Printing onto die cut shapes

Image
Every now and then I have a die cut shape that I want to add journaling to without using my handwriting.  Here’s my little trick to do that. I create a text box in a word document and size it to fit the opening on my die cut. Print your journaling out on a blank piece of printer paper. Use washi tape to attach your die cut over top of the printing on that piece of paper. I hold it up to a bright light to make sure I have it in the right place. You can see that I added lots of tape on the top so that it doesn’t catch when it is fed into the printer.  Run that page through your printer again and voila!  This  works  really well on thinner die cuts. Cardstock weight or less would be best. Anything heavier likely won’t run through a printer.  Thanks for stopping by and have a FANTASTIC day! .

Creating an Interactive Journal Element

Image
Hi everyone! Today I’m sharing an alternate way to create a fold out element in my art journal. I recently shared similar but different instructions to make this on the ECD blog. This time, I started by partially cutting out my paper using the pocket die from set 2211 Shielded Window. The key was to make sure that my die cutting plate was not over the end of the die as you can see in the photo below. This resulted in a partially cut out piece. I trimmed off the loose pieces with my scissors.  My next step was to line up the die with half of the previous cut and tape it down with washi.  Make sure to line up those little notches.  Place this back in your die cutting machine ensuring that the previously cut end is not under your plate, as shown below.  This will create a 3 section piece and I cut two of these.  Trim off the flaps on the top and bottom leaving the notches in place.  Attach the two pieces together using the side tab and decorate as desire...

49 & Market Spice Album

Image
I purchased this kit from Stamplicity a while back and put it together last summer.  This kit uses the ARToptions Spice collection and it is fall/pumpkin themed.  I don’t typically have a lot of fall/pumpkin photos so I changed things up to suit my taste.  My cover is very similar to the kit design. Most of the pages are different from the kit design though.  I love adding flips and flaps so this page has half flaps secured with magnets.  This next page had a fantastic interactive page designed by Michelle Canasa-Sammut for the class.  It has a top and bottom flap that is folded in half to meet at the middle.  You can understand it better by watching the short flip through video at the end.  I decided to add a waterfall on the back page.  Just pull the ticket and they all flip.  Of course the back of the album needs to be covered too! Check out this short flip through video to see it all in action.  Thanks so much for stopping by. I...

*NEW* Journal Romance Special

Image
Hi everyone, I’m finally back to share a FANTASTIC new Art journal special kit with you. When I received this kit I knew it would be perfect for all my Journal Together monthly prompts.   I started by cutting out all of the pages using the Coffee Dyed papers. To do this you will want to fold your paper in half and then carefully align the die with the score line along the edge of the fold. *TIP* place your die on a slight angle as you run it through your machine. It helps those edges to cut better.  Once all of your pages are cut out then you will need to cut out the hinge pieces. I inked the edges of all my pages and hinges before assembling. Add strong double sided tape to the hinges and attach one to each page.  Peel back one edge of your tape and carefully line up one page on top of the next. I was careful to make sure that all my pages were facing the same direction. This is not a requirement but for this project I wanted it that way. Once your pages are lined ...

*More New Pages* Remember Moments Art Journal

Image
I’m back again with another page is my Race Day journal.  For this page I created a stencil with scrap paper and the floral pocket die from set 2160 Romance. I used the stencil to decorate my Coffee Dyed paper.  I used the same die to add a pocket onto my page to hold some memorabilia.  I used the 2016 Journal File XL1 Set to cut a tab for the daily schedule. The die has a flap on it which I just trimmed off. I also added a stamp from set CS232 Label Tabs.  You can see the full but short process video below.  Thank you so much for stopping by and have yourself a WONDERFUL day!

*New Pages* Remember Moments Art Journal

Today I have a brand new page to share with you from my Art Journal. I created this page after my samples were sent in, so no one has seen them yet!  Until now, lol   I used the drop out pieces from the (2159 Remember) film strip dies, that I cut on a previous page, for the main design of this layout.  I stamped all over my Coffee Dyed papers with stamps from set CS364 Textures to create some interest and dimension.  I used dies from both the 2111 Labels, Tags & More and 2016 Journal XL 1 sets for my embellishments.  You can see more details about this page in this short process video.  Thank you so much for stopping by and have an AMAZING day!

Remember Moments Art Journal

I’m back again with another page in my Day Trip journal.  For this 8th page, I cut out the film strips using the 2159 Remember die set.  I added some black cardstock behind the edges of the film strips and then my photos.  I used a fancy circle die from the 2163 Journal Sleeves Fillers 1 set and inked it with some grey ink to tone down the brightness.  I added some cheese cloth behind the photos and a simple dies cut word for the title.  You can see a quick process video below.  Thanks for stopping by and have yourself a  FANTASTIC  day!
