Playing with Guilding Wax

Image
I had some fun experimenting with Guilding Wax for the Journal Together October monthly prompt last year. I used  the Journal Romance Special kit from Elizabeth Craft Designs for this project. I started by cutting the nesting rectangles from the Coffee Dyed  papers   & some brown cardstock. I rubbed some guilding wax around the edges with my fingers. I cut the lock and key out of bazzil cardstock so I could use the textured side to see how the guilding wax would look on it. I rubbed the guilding wax over the entire front of the die cuts.  I love how it turned out! It gives such a neat texture. I also rubbed some guilding wax onto a piece of white cardstock to create a matching paper! I cut out two of the pocket pieces and used the matching die to create the openings.  Again, I used my guilding wax on the edges and around the openings.  I used the guilding wax paper behind the openings in the pockets.   I decided to also cut out a flower and ...

Creating an Interactive Journal Element

Image
Hi everyone! Today I’m sharing an alternate way to create a fold out element in my art journal. I recently shared similar but different instructions to make this on the ECD blog. This time, I started by partially cutting out my paper using the pocket die from set 2211 Shielded Window. The key was to make sure that my die cutting plate was not over the end of the die as you can see in the photo below. This resulted in a partially cut out piece. I trimmed off the loose pieces with my scissors.  My next step was to line up the die with half of the previous cut and tape it down with washi.  Make sure to line up those little notches.  Place this back in your die cutting machine ensuring that the previously cut end is not under your plate, as shown below.  This will create a 3 section piece and I cut two of these.  Trim off the flaps on the top and bottom leaving the notches in place.  Attach the two pieces together using the side tab and decorate as desire...

49 & Market Spice Album

Image
I purchased this kit from Stamplicity a while back and put it together last summer.  This kit uses the ARToptions Spice collection and it is fall/pumpkin themed.  I don’t typically have a lot of fall/pumpkin photos so I changed things up to suit my taste.  My cover is very similar to the kit design. Most of the pages are different from the kit design though.  I love adding flips and flaps so this page has half flaps secured with magnets.  This next page had a fantastic interactive page designed by Michelle Canasa-Sammut for the class.  It has a top and bottom flap that is folded in half to meet at the middle.  You can understand it better by watching the short flip through video at the end.  I decided to add a waterfall on the back page.  Just pull the ticket and they all flip.  Of course the back of the album needs to be covered too! Check out this short flip through video to see it all in action.  Thanks so much for stopping by. I...

Sidekick Saturday Jan 20 Prompt

Image
Hi everyone, today I'm sharing another planner page that I made for the   Elizabeth Craft Planners & Journaling Facebook   group Sidekick Saturday prompts. The prompt for Jan 20 is MEMORIES, so  I choose a couple of old photos to use on this page. I cut my photos using the dies from the Torn 2110 die set from the new Art Journal Elements collection. Then I matted them on the ATC backer. I used the back of my previous planner page for a base and cut this lovely text paper with Planner Essentials 38 to place over top. I inked the base with Peeled Paint Distress Oxide to show through the splatter openings. I added the beautiful butterfly from the Ornate Butterfly 2112 set, also from the new collection. You can see the full process video on my YouTube channel.  Thank you for stopping by and have an AMAZING day! In honour of National Scrapbooking month Close to my Heart created this stunning paper pack with amazing gold foil images.  I took their pattern for this little mini book and added some additional pages and different embellishments and here is how it turned out. This album was just perfect for my parents honeymoon pictures.  I love how great they look together.  The Live Beautifully  paper is only available until the end of May so don't miss out.
