Gift for my Parents
My parents recently moved after living in the same house for over 45 years. I've been encouraging them to move closer to me for about 5 years now. It's taken a long time and was a very hard thing for my parents but they came around and are very happy to have a new house now. They moved in this past October and then headed down to Florida for the winter about a month later. They haven't had much time to enjoy the house and get it set up yet but they are on their way home now and will be back at the end of the week. I really wanted to make them some kind of keepsake and housewarming gift. Since I have so much Heidi Swapp product I thought it would be a great opportunity to use lots of it and have some fun with Colour Shine.
I used one of the Heidi Swapp wooden albums which I covered in Colour Shine and some CTMH mini pigment ink. I really do love how nicely the colour shine soaks into the album. The photos just don't do justice to the lovely iridescent appearance. I added some colour shine banners and a CTMH stamp for the cover.
I had a lot of fun filling the inside of the album with all kinds of Heidi Swapp product with a little bit of CTMH product thrown in. I used so many different product lines and it's great how they all work together so nicely.
I don't have a lot of feminine type paper but I do have the Sugar Chic paper pad and it was a lot of fun to finally be able to use some of it. I'm not much for glitter most of the time either but it's nice to use little bits of it in something like this.
I used some of the photos that I got from my parents when they were cleaning up before they moved. I'm hoping that they'll really enjoy looking at some of these old photos somewhere other than in a box or drawer.
This was the first project that I used Heidi's new stencil sets on. They are fun to layer and spray with Colour Shine. I also used her new background stamps which I love too.
I added in a few Dear Lizzy Thickers mainly because I wanted to use the one that says "This is my happy place". Isn't it cute?
I had seen some of Heidi's trimmings sprayed with Colour Shine on someone else's site so I thought I'd give that a try also. It was pretty easy and worked well. I then heated it to give it some dimension. Not sure that the flower came out the way I was hoping but I still kinda like it.
What do you think about the Trimmings flower?
I took lots of photos but that's what I like about Heidi's products. You can fit so many photos and there are so many cute ways to add interactive elements.
I mixed things up a little bit here. I had some other products that I'd been wanting to use including this fun corrugated black cardstock.
Notice how I just had to use my CTMH Artbooking cartridge? I actually had this cut out for another project but it wasn't the right size so I was able to use it here instead. It worked very well here and I was finally able to use my canvas Compliments that I still had left from my CTMH Stella kit.
I really hope that my parents like this book. I think I might try to make a frame or box that it can be kept in. I don't think that Michaels has anymore of Heidi's shadow boxes which probably would have been perfect. I'll look next time I'm there though and maybe create one of my own.
Thanks for looking. I'd love to hear what you think. I think my next project will be some kind of display for my mom so that she can quickly and easily put all of the grandkids photos up somewhere instead of just sticking them in a drawer.
Absolutely beautiful!!
