Playing with Guilding Wax

Image
I had some fun experimenting with Guilding Wax for the Journal Together October monthly prompt last year. I used  the Journal Romance Special kit from Elizabeth Craft Designs for this project. I started by cutting the nesting rectangles from the Coffee Dyed  papers   & some brown cardstock. I rubbed some guilding wax around the edges with my fingers. I cut the lock and key out of bazzil cardstock so I could use the textured side to see how the guilding wax would look on it. I rubbed the guilding wax over the entire front of the die cuts.  I love how it turned out! It gives such a neat texture. I also rubbed some guilding wax onto a piece of white cardstock to create a matching paper! I cut out two of the pocket pieces and used the matching die to create the openings.  Again, I used my guilding wax on the edges and around the openings.  I used the guilding wax paper behind the openings in the pockets.   I decided to also cut out a flower and ...

ATC Prompt Circles

Image
Hi again. Today I’m sharing my ATC’s for the Elizabeth Craft Designs July ATC prompt. The prompt this month is “circles”. I started out by cutting the cards from the Abandoned Papers collection using the stitched ATC die from the original ATC Specials Kit.  My next step was to run them through a couple of embossing folders I had in my stash. Each one has a different circle pattern.  Next, I used my brayer to apply some die ink to the embossed circles.  Once the embossed circles were coloured I used the same ink to edge distress each card.  I used the same ATC Specials kit to cut out bases for my cards using brown cardstock that coordinates nicely with my patterned paper.  I ink distressed the edges of the bases with my light brown ink and stamped the back with the coordinating stamp from the ATC Specials kit.  I attached the cards to the bases.  I pulled out the hot air balloon stamp from set CS361 Around the World. First I mounted it to my bloc...

Remember Moments Art Journal

Image
I’m back again sharing another page in my Race Day Art Journal with you.  For this page I added a pocket which I cut using the 2159 Remember die set (the same set used to cut the base pages).  I tucked in a photo and a journaling ATC card which I cut using the 2163 Journal Sleeves Fillers 1 die set. I just love cutting out my photos with dies. It looks so great! I used stamps from sets CS363 Passport Stamps & CS364 Textures to add some more details to my Coffee Dyed paper. I stamped with Vintage Photo oxide and then added clear heat embossing powder to give it a nice shine.  On the right page I double matted my photo with more dies from the Journal Sleeves Fillers 1 set and added a sentiment from the CS365 Travel Phrases stamp.  I stamped my title using the CS360 Wonky Letters stamp. You can see the quick process video below.  You can find all the products I used on this project on the Elizabeth Craft Designs website or in your local craft store....

*NEW RELEASE* Remember Moments Cut Apart ATC’s

Image
The new Coffee Dyed papers from the Remember Moments Art Journal collection is so fun.  Each pack has 4 cut apart sheets of 2 designs.  That means you can cut one apart and keep one to use the back side! As soon as I saw these papers I knew I had to make ATC's with them.  I started by cutting each "card" with either the base ATC die or the mat layer.  I wanted to have a variety of different shapes to play with. There are so many new dies and stamps in this collection and I tried to use as many as I could. You can see the new ATC label stamp and how great it matches up with the new ATC die.  Both are from Classic ATC set. So far I have made 8 ATC's from the two pieces of paper but I still have some left to make more! You can watch how I made all of these cards in the video below.  You will also learn which set is used for each piece. The entire collection can be found at the link below and p lease use my discount code to save 10% on a min. $25 purchase http...

*NEW RELEASE* Remember Moments Gift Card Holder

Image
The new Art Journal release from Elizabeth Craft Designs is stunning. Devid Roodenburg has done another fantastic job!  Although the collection is travel themed, I decided to create this fun little gift card holder.  I used the Classic ATC die set to cut out the envelope.  The Happy is from the Romance die set and the film strip frame is from the Remember die set. The Birthday stamp came from an older stamp set (CS160). I added eyelets and some ribbon to keep it closed. I used the decorative oval die with it's coordinating plain oval from the Journal Sleeves Fillers 1 set to make the window on the envelope. I added some acetate to the window. I stamped on the inside of the envelope, before assembling it, using the Textures and Passports stamps.  I cut out the insert using the ATC dies from the Classic ATC set. The balloon stamp & die is from the Around the World sets and the words are from the Travel Phrases stamp. I used this lovely decorative piece to cre...

Reflections on Me

Image
I started a new journal to document how my looks have changed over the last 20ish years.  Over that time I would occasionally take a photo of myself. Most often it was to document a good hair day! I’ve never really used those photos in my scrapbooking, so I thought it be would fun to see how I’ve changed over the years. I used some older 49 & Market paper from my stash for the base page. I cut it using the Journal File XL1 page die from ECD. My picture is cut using the Labels, Tags & More set as well as the mat for the photo.  I stamped the background with CS343 Script from the Past and the other stamps are all from CS295 Journal Your Life (so fitting).  I am using the Square XL journal in Royal Blue and I embossed it using a folder from my stash. Then I rubbed some silver wax over it to highlight the details. I love the quatrefoil pattern since that is part of my brand imaging! I do plan to add some kind of title to the front of the journal, but that is a ...

ATC Prompt Easter

Image
Hi everyone, today I want to share another page in my Art Journal that includes an Artist Trading Card.  I finally had a chance to complete the April ATC prompt which is Easter. I thought it would fit nicely on this blank page in my journal.  I started with this scrap of embossed white cardstock. I put versamark ink on the raised part of the my embossing folder and after running it through the machine I added clear embossing powder and then heat set it.  Then I sprayed it with some Color Shine that’s been in my stash for a very long time!  This worked nicely and I just used a paper towel to blot off the colour on the embossing powder.  I grabbed some champagne coloured glitter paper and cut out a pocket using the Artist Trading Coin die set.  I cut out an adorable picture of my newest grandson using the Elizabeth Craft Designs ATC Special Kit die. This die is meant for the label on the back of your cards but works great for other things too! I in...

Sidekick Saturday February 17 Prompt

Image
The theme for Sidekick Saturday on Feb 17 was LOVE. Yes, that was almost two months ago! I’m still trying to catch up on these prompts. Also note that I’m using my full size planner instead of the Sidekick.  I’ve had this little paper cup sitting on my desk for a while as I really like the watercolour hearts. I knew it would be a good inspiration for a project.  Instead of actually trying to draw the hearts with a brush and watercolours I just WATERCOLOUR STAMPED them!  Have you ever tried this technique?  It’s really easy and the results look just like you painted them! I wanted to insure that my page would coordinate nicely in my planner, so I chose a piece of paper from the new Petal Pink pack. It ties in perfectly with my previous page! You can see how that page came together here .  I added some dark pink & black cardstock from my stash and used some Abandoned Papers on the pockets.  You can see the full process video on my YouTube channel.  I...
