May Team Blog Hop

Welcome to our monthly team Blog Hop featuring projects Inspired by Pinterest.  If you have just hopped onto my blog, you can start here as this is a circular hop, but if you get lost you can find your way by going to Brae's blog at http://thebrae-er.blogspot.com for a full list of participants. If you came from Brae Montgomery's The Brae-er blog then you are in the right place!

We hope that you will take the time to leave comments on our posts, as we love to get feedback from our viewers....whether it was something that you really liked or some new technique that was used that you would like to learn how to do....by leaving us comments, we get to hear what you like, and what you want to see. Thank you… now on to our hop!

It's been a very busy month and I wish I had found time to post more but it just didn't happen.  I'm happy to be back with another team blog hop.  This month our hop is "Inspired by Pinterest".  I really enjoyed this and hope that you like my project.  The original post can be found on Scrapbooking.com on the Art on a String project by Kay Williamson.  I didn't even look at her instructions but since I was using a Kraft Container I didn't need to make the box as she did.

I started out with the My Creations Kraft Container and added some Dream Pop paper.  I used a sentiment from the Family Love stamp set and cut it out using the Cricut Artiste cartridge.  I also added some Slate Polka-Dot Washi Tape along the lid.  It's the first time I've used the washi tape and I really like how it worked out on this project.  I had a hard time finding a handle for the lid but finally picked up a pair at Canadian Tire.

I used the Mini-Medley Accents Slate Collection to embellish the container.  I also added a second pin with a bling button on it.  I used a zip strip from one of the Dream Pop papers instead of a ribbon to hold the sentiment on the container.

There were a lot of firsts for me with this project.  Another first was heat embossing.  I finally purchased a Versamark ink pad and some Clear Embossing Powder.  I stamped more sentiments on some of the Dream Pop cardstock with the Versamark and then added the embossing powder.  Unfortunately I thought that a hair dryer would melt the powder.  Just in case you think the same thing, IT DOESN'T WORK.  LOL, I resorted to a lighter and have now ordered a Craft Heater so that I can do it right next time.

I used some fishing line that I had my husband dig out for me (he doesn't fish anymore) and strung some pictures, the sentiments and some Colour Ready Garden Wooden Shapes.  I coloured the wooden shapes with some ink, added washi tape to one of them and covered a few with embossing powder.  I had fun playing around with the little wooden shapes and seeing what I could do with them.

Each item is double sided so that no matter how you look at it you don't see the back of anything.  I am also surprised at how well this goes in and out of the container.  You would think that it would be tangled up but as long as you are gentle it comes out every time.  I'm sure if I tossed it around a bit it would tangle up but why would I do that?  Below is the close up of the butterfly with the washi tape and then the smaller one has embossing powder on it.

The next stop on the Hop is Lucy Imrie of Lucy's Creative Expressions.
Thanks for hopping along with us - we hope we were able to inspire you to create your own projects from those that you have seen along the way. Join us again in next month when we will be featuring projects with a Summer Theme.
